Count Almaviva at London’s Royal Ballet and Opera

In January 2022, Germán stepped in at short notice to sing the role of Count Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at London’s Royal Ballet and Opera. Conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano (Music Director, 2002-2024), Germán’s performance was streamed in cinemas across the UK and later released on DVD.

At the time of his performance, The Daily Mail said: Baritone Germán Enrique Alcántara was magnificently menacing Count, constantly frustrated in his schemes; and Bachtrack said: Count Almaviva was well taken by baritone Germán Enrique Alcántara in his first major role at the Royal Ballet Opera showing vocal and histrionic gifts.
